You can renew your existing Easy Digital Downloads license key instead of buying a new one. Renewing keeps your updates and support running after your pass expires.
This guide shows you each way to renew. All you need is the pass you want to renew, and the steps are the same for every pass level, from Personal to All Access.
Before you get started, make sure you can log in to your Easy Digital Downloads account.
Renewing From Your Email Reminder
To get started, we’ll cover the quickest option: your renewal reminder email. Which emails you get depends on whether your subscription is still active.
While your subscription is active, your pass renews automatically. We send a reminder 2 days before the renewal charge, then a confirmation email once your license has renewed. You don’t need to do anything.
If your subscription has been canceled or has expired, we send license reminders 30 days, 7 days, and 48 hours before your license expires. You’ll also get a subscription expiration notice about a month before. These emails go to the address you used when you bought your pass.
Each reminder includes a renewal link. When you click it, you’ll land on the Easy Digital Downloads checkout page with your pass and license key already added. From there, you only need to finish checking out.
If you can’t find the reminder, check your spam folder or use one of the account options below.
Renewing From Your Account Downloads Tab
First, log in to your Easy Digital Downloads account. Then, open the Downloads tab.
Your license card shows your pass type, license key, expiration date, and site activations. When your license has expired, an Expired badge appears next to the date. To start your renewal, click Renew Pass in the top right corner of the license card.
This button takes you straight to checkout. We’ll cover that last step below.
Renewing From Your Account Billing Tab
The Billing tab of your account gives you another way to renew. Both tabs lead to the same renewal, so use whichever you have open. This tab lists your subscriptions, along with their status and renewal date.
In the Subscriptions table, find the expired pass you want to renew. Then, click the Renew link at the end of that row.
Your table may list the same pass more than once, with one row for each past subscription period. Every Renew link for that pass renews the same license key, so it doesn’t matter which row you use.

Completing Your Renewal
Each renewal option above takes you to the checkout page with your pass and license key already in the cart. You don’t need to enter your license key yourself.
From there, enter your payment details and complete your purchase. Your license key stays the same. Because your license has already expired, the new year starts on the day you renew.
You don’t need to download or reinstall anything on your site after you renew. The built-in update system picks up your renewed license.

Will my license key change when I renew?
No. Renewing extends the license key you already have, so you don’t need to update the key on your site.
Do I get a discount when I renew?
Renewal pricing depends on your account, so it can differ from what you first paid. Keeping your subscription active also keeps your renewal pricing. You’ll see your renewal amount at checkout before you pay.
Will my pass renew automatically?
Yes, as long as your subscription is active. Your pass renews automatically each year and adds a year to your current expiration date. You only need to renew by hand when your license has already expired. You can’t renew a license early by hand.
Can I get a refund on a renewal?
No. The 14-day money-back guarantee applies to new pass purchases only. Manual renewals of expired passes don’t qualify. Refunds on automatic renewals are subject to our Terms and Conditions.
