Easy Digital Downloads Blog
WordPress Tutorials, Tips, and Resources to Help Grow Your Business

It’s finally almost ready! Easy Digital Downloads has been in development for about two months now, with over a hundred hours of my personal development time put into it so far.

The plugin is extremely powerful and really, really cool. I have worked hard to supply as many of necessary features as possible, while also avoiding the terrible feature bloat that is suffered by so many of the WordPress ecommerce plugins available. Your feedback during this beta stage is very, very important to me, so please feel free to leave as much feedback as possible.

The first beta version of Easy Digital Downloads can be downloaded from the plugin’s Git hub page. If you’re not familiar with GitHub, click “Downloads” on the right side of the screen, this will take to a page where you can download a .zip file.

Please post your bug reports on the github issues page, or in the beta support forum. All feedback that is not a bug report is welcome below.

Great work, Pippin. This is looking snazzy and simple! I’m downloading the Beta right now to do some testing.

The plugin looks fantastic and very well thought out. I will be testing it out tonight. Is there any future plans for an affiliate system built in?
    Congrats of a great product!

Thanks! Yes, I am planning to build an affiliate add-on as soon as the plugin is out of beta.

By the way this is shaping up to be a great plugin. I’m so dumping eShop, but my stomack churns at the thought of importing the thousands of current sales.

    Hi,
I’m currently figuring out how to implement your plug-in in a personal project.
I’ll let you know the results.

    Hi,
some passes are a bit obscure but I’ve managed to install and configure and properly test with PAYPAL and the Discount Coupon feature (some issues with “,” becoming “.” in prices after applying discount… I’ve yet to cross test with a friend (with a different PP account :-).
Maybe this is not the right place to ask, but there is a way to localize in different languages the cart/checkout front-end?

I suspect I know why the “.” and “,”s are changing with a discount code. I’ll look into it.

The plugin is fully localized and ready for translation. Have you ever translated a plugin before? There are several ways to do it. One is to use another plugin such as qTranslate, and one way is to create a new .po file for your language based off of the default.po file located inside the “languages” folder of the plugin.

Ok, once created the new .po file I’ve to follow a precise renaming procedure? And once I’ve the file I can simply put the new “it.po” file in the same folder of “default.po”?

Yes, it needs a specific naming convention. What language are you translating to? And yes, just place it in the same folder.

I’m already using an Italian WP package install. No idea where i can set change back and forth languages.
