It also includes a simpler way to handle partial refunds.
When issuing a partial refund for an order, you’ll now see a simple checkbox to disable the associated license key. Licenses are always disabled when you issue a full refund.
This gives you more flexibility and control when managing customer transactions and support requests.

Step 1. Update the Software Licensing Extension
First, make sure your site is ready. This new version has a few requirements to ensure everything runs smoothly.
🚨 Important: Software Licensing 3.9.0 requires Easy Digital Downloads version 3.3.6+, WordPress 6.2+, and PHP 7.4+. Although these are the minimum version requirements for Software Licensing, the new reports are only available if your site is running at least Easy Digital Downloads 3.5.1.
If you already have Software Licensing installed, simply navigate to Plugins » Installed Plugins from your WordPress dashboard.
You will see an update notification for the extension. Click update now.
If you’re an EDD Pro license holder and don’t have it installed yet, you can find it under Downloads » Extensions and install it with one click.
Step 2. Explore the New Features
Once you’ve updated, the new features are ready to go!
To check out the new reports, go to Downloads » Reports, and look for the new tabs for Activation Data and more.
You can also configure preset key alerts.
When editing a product with preset keys enabled, you’ll find the new option for low-stock alerts and auto-drafting.
