After 10 beta versions, Easy Digital Downloads is ready for use. The beta versions were downloaded and tested by more than 200 different users and mountainous improvements were made with every beta version. It’s because of all of the wonderful users who helped me during the beta stage that I feel very comfortable telling that Easy Digital Downloads is ready for use. It is indeed time to begin selling digital products through your WordPress website easily, and effectively.
Aside from its very specific purpose, one of the things that I feel makes Easy Digital Downloads great is its modularity, which allows for add-on extensions to be built for all kinds of purposes. At the time of writing this, there are already six different add-ons available for download and purchase, and not all of them were written by me! A community of developers is being built around Easy Digital Downloads, which just makes it even better!
Another exciting thing about getting Easy Digital Downloads out the door is that the extensive documentation has also begun getting written. While I don’t have even 1/4 of it done, it is getting there. Once complete, there will be an entire Developer’s API documentation as well, which will make it even easier for other developers to create extensions and add-ons for Easy Digital Downloads.
